Last evening I had been obnoxiously attached to my phone at bedtime. I know, I know... Right before bed is a horrible way to wind down and expect to sleep well. lol. AAAAAAAANNNNNNNDDDDD you are right.... or "they" were right?
Anywho, I get scrolling through the Facebook when I scroll past a face I seem to recall. I squinched my nose in confusion at my husband and he knew something was up. "This girl keeps popping up on my feed!-- and I think I know her!" Low and behold, I do some further digging and it WAS TRUE. I PHOTOGRAPHED HER AND HER MOTHER for a celebration of beauty day. I remember it SO well....
     Of all days, I WAS RUNNING LATE to a family function and stopped to get gas at my local Casey's. My forehead misted by the summer heat and iced coffee in hand I was about ready to pull out of the bay and I heard someone honking at me. Like a small car! So, being midwestern, I stop and climb out to see what the problem was thinking I may of had a flat tire or in my rush, perhaps I left my gas tank open?
I lean over to the car and see a young girl and her mother waving me to come over, and she asked, "Hey I saw your sign on on your truck! You do Makeovers and Photoshoots!? I would love to pamper my daughter and get some updated headshots while I am at it!"
So funny.

A couple months later we were able to get them into the studio for a session and they were SO MUCH FUN. I remember laughing until my gut hurt! But I remember how proud LaDonna was of her baby girl. Immediately while styling Mom, she says, " You can go all out on me, but Dasia is more of a natural beauty lover. She loves her hair natural, her face natural, and she glows in anything she does."
I had NO DOUBT at all in my mind.








































































FAST FORWARD TO LAST NIGHT....

Dasia Taylor is a senior in High School here in the Iowa City School District. She is 17 years old. 
17 !

And she has literally changed the world.
 
I know I am just a photographer, who takes your photograph.... but it means so much more to me than just clicking a button. I got to be part of your life for even a moment. For even a day, and I get SO EXCITED for the things that happen to you or the things you do. I get giddy inside. With warm tingly-s... and punch my husband to show him the updates on your milestones. 
Because I immensely care. 
I would say it is my strength as well as my weakness. Because when you leave this studio, I literally cannot wait to see you at your next milestone--- whether that be graduation, marriage, a baby or changing the medical industry... 
I care.
