Life, love, and happiness.
The touch of a kitties fuzzy striped head...the warmth of the sunlight on a cold winter's day...the tips and turns and tumbles of a new life you have yet to meet.
"Of all days, THIS is the day I get to be swollen." she says as she walks through my studio door. Her hair misted by the snow sprinkles, and her iced coffee in hand.
"Sorry I am late. I was trying to shave my legs." I chuckle, because her eight and a half month baby belly would definitely make it a challenge to shave. I can remember back to when I was pregnant and I couldn't even see my feet passed like 23 weeks along. To be honest, I don't even remember making it a priority to shave at all during my pregnancy.
So good for her!
Sarah has been a friend since about 2009. So it is an absolute dream and pleasure to get to watch her and her family grow. I photographed their iconic University of Iowa Law Chamber wedding, I was there during the dating, and now---- a new life.
Eric and Sarah are going to be parents.
I curl loose waves into her hair, and use my fingers to gently comb them through. Each stroke she tells me about her house addition they started, the crazy stories of her 7 inside cats, and the drama of washing dishes in the tub because their kitchen is being remodeled. My smile is pure happiness. Because amidst the chaos of getting ready for baby. I get to take my time and pamper this Mamma. I get to show her that there is no way your swollen body doesn't look like it is carrying a piece of Heaven. That your leg hair won't even be seen. You get to relax. And shine.
And I will be there to capture the glow.
