Sometimes you just know.
I met this couple while traveling for a conference in Arizona. I am a LOVER, and ex-instructor, of the wonderful past time and couple dance called swing dance. So, when I am out of town, I find a dive bar hosting a swing night and GO! I approached Erin originally to say that she has a very amazing look to hopefully get her into the WPPI or Portrait Masters photobays. Then all of a sudden, she said, well if I like your work, would you consider coming back to photograph our wedding?
Um. Heck yes.
So, sure enough she fell in love with my vintage flair and I went back to Arizona for a spring wedding.
Unbeknownst to me... a rally of life events days prior had me staying at their home and helping them set everything up. Usually, I don't invade the bride and groom's space, but from what I know about the swing dance community-- we LOVE hosting dancers. So I gulped and asked.
They were so accomodating, and as the days went on, I saw her anxiety level raise a bit when she was hoping to get all her cleaning done AND all her errands. I stepped in to help relieve some of that stress, and deep cleaned her house... I mean, what else am I going to do for 3 days before? The thing is, serving someone in such a deep capacity can bring you closer. By the end of the wedding, I would consider Erin a twin flame, and her amazing husband a loving friend in my heart. So much so, I should just make it a point to move wherever they are. (kidding, not kidding...)

Venue: Johnathan and Erin's personal home in Phoenix Arizona
Reception: In their home backyard
Dress Boutique: Vintage Find
I really felt their story was a beautiful mash of vintage and whimsical. I loved being able to get to know them so deeply that I could really capture the romance between them in such a creative way. I was able to take blank spaces, and add some creative lights or fog to bring out their Casablanca feel. I also want you to go check out that swing circle! In the reception, there is a cadence and rhythm that goes with swing jazz, so you almost have to BE a dancer to capture those EXTRA cool flips and spins. By the time I was finished with the wedding... I could have hung up my wedding photographer hat.
Ideal people.
Ideal weather.
Ideal everything.
